Swim Spray

Spread the love

My family loves to swim. This swim spray is a staple in our home during the summer months, when swimming lessons are in rotation, or any time we’re being exposed to a pool with chlorine.

Why We Use a Swim Spray

We only use this swim spray when we or the children will be spending extended time swimming in chlorinated pools. One reason we use this spray is because of the way chlorine impacts the bodies ability to detoxify by depleting the body of sulfur. Sulfur is important because it’s a precursor to glutathione. Glutathione is an important line of defense against free radicals and toxic compounds like heavy metals and mycotoxins.

Another reason we like to use a swim spray is because when overexposed to chlorine, if there is a low level of iodine coming in, it can create a situation where your body is actually trying to use chlorine like it would iodine. Why does this matter? Well first off, you may already know how important iodine is for thyroid health. Our bodies are amazing at adapting and one of the ways our bodies adapt when exposed to lots of chlorine is by displacing iodine. Iodine is essential for our thyroid, which is the master conductor of our metabolism, a foundational piece of our health!

While we don’t like to live in fear, we do the best we can with the information we have. This is one way we like to keep having summer fun in the pool while keeping ourselves and our children healthy and happy.
